| Want a Project? Some more ideas... |

| Idea #1: The section of the creek from the bridge on Compton Road to the terminus on Bull Run Creek has never been cleaned and is an absolute disgrace to Fairfax County. It will take a major effort to clean it, but once it is done the maintenance won't be too difficult. DONE VIA EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT BY SCOTT BIERWIRTH IN APRIL, 2004. Idea #2: The Willow Springs Branch of the Little Rocky Run watershed is also a disgrace to Fairfax County. Some of the worst eyesores have been removed - a pair of 1946 Plymouth car bodies. However, the stream bed is a sea of trash. Quite frankly it is incomprehensible how people can live in $500,000.00 homes that overlook years worth of garbage. Idea #3: None of the stream beds in the headwaters of Little Rocky Run on the north side of U. S. 29 have been cleaned. Meanwhile the entire area is undergoing heavy development with some 1,000+ new houses and townhomes are going up. Once this ends, maybe some volunteers will appear to start putting things back together. They could start with the marsh on U. S. 29 where a number of car engines are clearly visible. |

| Idea #4: Want a really positive project? Why not gather seeds from the Marsh Mallows that grow in the marsh on U. S. 29. Then plant them in the Stormwater ponds in the Little Rocky Run development and elsewhere that have been exempted from mowing as part of a water purification project. (See photo on left - these plants should be around until October. The perspectve is from inside the swamp looking west on 29 while standing on the north side). | |||||||||||||||||||
| Idea #5: There is one very suspicious "pipe" on the Dominion Power right-of-way near the substation off Bay Valley Lane. It appears to be an abandoned cross bar off an old transmission tower. What worries us is what else might be buried in the ground with it. The pipe is about 20 feet long, 9 inches in diameter and very, very heavy steel. About 4 or 5 feet of it is exposed as you can see by the 3 foot long yard stick in the below photo. If you want to investigate this and take charge of getting rid of it, we can point you in the right direction. DONE CA. APRIL 9, 2005 BY DOMINION POWER. |

| Idea #6: There is another hunk of metal tubing also apparently from a transmission tower on the power cut near Braddock Road. This piece of metal is at least 20 feet long and about 3 feet in diameter. It probably isn't all that heavy, but it will be difficult to move. (Mentioned on previous page. This is a big job). | |||||||||||||||||||
| Idea #7: Every so often someone approaches us and says they are going to paint "Do Not Dump" lettering on storm drain entrances. So far no one has followed through. This is a big job, but you will get a lot of help if you want to tackle it. Note: some of these have been put up, but there are still plenty of unmarked drains. | |||||||||||||||||||
