Friends of Little Rocky Run
November 24, 2004 - Shane Zavala's Eagle Scout Project - Planting a Stormwater Pond Beside Stonefield Drive in the Little Rocky Run Watershed.
Shane Zavala
Shane Zavala organized a clean-up and planting of a large stormwater pond.  Shane and Troop 717 planted about 100 native trees and shrubs.  Members of Troop 717 who participated were Jordan Zavala, John Forneris, Greg McMurrer, Kurt Soderstram, Jennings Treutel, John Shekailo, Wayne Shekailo, Jonathan Berkhahn, Eric Berkhahn, Erich Ghinger, and Matt Chauvin.

This project took quite a bit of planning which included getting approval from the LRRHOA, and checking with all of the nearby homeowners.  Judy Okay, State Urban forester, provided valuable advice as well.  Monica Outland, with Fairfax County's Department of
Public Works and Environmental Services, provided detailed drawings and outstanding on-site assistance for the best places to put the various plants

Funding was provided by a grant received from the Navy Federal Credit Union.
