| Now you would think that an expensive neighborhood like Evening Hills could do a better job of erosion control than this eyesore. Presumably these drainage tiles weren't just tossed here, they were placed here in a vain attempt to control erosion. This pile is about 75 yards downstream from the Compton Road bridge. (N38° 48.148’ H077°26.138’) This is one of the great ironies of Fairfax County - trash is everywhere, and often right next to very pricey and tony homes. These very same property owners wouldn't think of having trash in their yards. But if it is in the nearest stream, it doesn't seem to bother too many of them, even when it is clearly visible from their houses. Even though this section of the creek is arguably the most beautiful part of Little Rocky Run, no one has ever cleaned it as far as anyone knows. It is full of debris and is a good project for some person(s) who would like to do a good deed. If you would like to take this project on, let us know. |

| This section of the creek ends with the little bridge over Compton Road. We tried to find out what the damaged electrical conduit pipe is for, but no one seems to know. Do you? Likewise, we reported the broken concrete on the left side, but this was deemed insignificant. In heavy flooding it is not ususual for this bridge to be under a foot or more of water. It will be interesting to see what happens to it now that even more impervious surfaces have been built in the headwaters of Little Rocky Run on the far side of U. S. 29. (The trailer in the background is a temporary structure). | ||||||||||||||||||||
