As we continue upstream (photos read top to bottom, left to right), there is an active beaver dam visible in the upper portion of the below left photo.  A close-up is below right.  Observe how beavers put the upstream curve of their dams where the water flow is the strongest.  Most likely these beavers migrated downstream from the huge beaver dam alongside U. S. 29.
A log bridge is visible in the upper part of the photo at left.  This is probably a sycamore tree that fell long ago, and is still functional as a bridge, but not completely safe because it is often slippery.  When the creek is flooding, it is sometimes submerged.
