| Unfortunately, this branch of Little Rocky Run originates at the bottom of the huge hill shown in the photo directly below, just across the Fairfax County Parkway. This hill is the Fairfax County dump. I assume that great care has been taken to prevent dangerous chemicals from being deposited there which would otherwise find their way in short order to the Occoquan Reservoir. | ||||||||||||||||||||

| After pondering this hill for a couple of days, I got to thinking how nice it would be if they built it up to 10,000 feet or so. A snow-capped peak in Fairfax County would be great for property values. On the previous page, you recall that there were two conduit pipes under the Parkway. The pipe on the left drains the stormwater pond shown below left. The one on the right drains the small bog shown below right. Both of these bodies of water are on the right side of the Parkway heading north, before the I-66 East exit. Local maps indicate the creeks go on from here, but I couldn't find a trace of them. These two bodies of water are the beginning point of this section of Little Rocky Run. Photos on this page taken on 12/30/2003. |
