Friends of Little Rocky Run - Virtual Tour of Watershed, Page 46, The Landfill at the Wetlands, old Braddock Road to U. S. 29
The first photo shows a panoramic view of the land next to the wetland area.  This photo is taken from the bridge over U. S. 29 facing south.  The Bent Tree apartment complex on old Braddock Road is in the background.  The H-shaped metal structure is the remains of a facility that once made swimming pools.  This picture looks pretty normal.  However, in the background along the tree line which begins in the center rear of the photo, and moves to the left, there is not only some unusual junk, but clear evidence that a great deal of dumping was once done in this area.  It may be that all of this land is a landfill that destroyed a significant part of the wetland area.  We do not know what happened here in the past.  Do you?  If so, email us.

The next two photos show the edge of what was clearly a dump at one time.  The oil storage tank, the boulders, et. al., are hardly a natural phenomenon.  Judging by the height of the edge of the debris pile, a considerable amount of construction rubble and God knows what else was buried here.  (The beaver pond is to the right in both photos).
Page 47 following has a picture of what has to be the most amazing piece of trash yet found in the Little Rocky Run watershed.
