Friends of Little Rocky Run - Virtual Tour of Watershed, Page 6, 2nd Creek Crossing to the 3rd Creek Crossing
The photo at top left is an upstream shot from the second creek crossing.  There is a fairly steep cliff on the left side.  Not visible in the photo is what at first appears to be some sort of Civil War fortification.  However, it is actually a hole that was created over time after a large tree fell.  The depression is interesting and attracts lots of people.  For a long time it was used as a party hangout, and was a major eyesore littered with hundreds of beer cans and whiskey bottles.  The woods on this hill were frequently used by illegal dumpers as well, but this debris has also been cleaned out.  Volunteers even removed two tanning stations from this area in the summer of 2001.

The photo at top right shows the next section of the stream above the top left photo
. This part of the creek is a pleasant flat sandy plain.  It is full of wildlife.  Parts of very old wooden deer stands are still visible on some of the trees.  The third creek crossing is about 50 yards beyond the top of this picture.

The photo below shows the 3rd creek crossing (N 38° 48.767’ H077° 25.989’).  There is a possible old earthern dam here as well.  The hump at the right may have been part of a dam that joined the hump on the other side where Lynn Foster is standing.  It isn't certain if this is an old dam, but it would have been a good location for one.  Beavers occasionally build dams at this spot as well.
