| How many garbage trucks does it take to transport 4 conservationists from the I-66 Transfer Station on Ox Road to the I-95 Sanitary Landfill at Lorton? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| FOUR. As it turns out FLRR won a prize for our spectacular clean up in the April 2009 Alice Ferguson clean up. The prize was a grand tour of the I-66 Transfer Station at Ox Road and the I-95 Sanitary Landfill at Lorton, including the amazing Covanta Plant. Best of all, the tour docent was none other than Jeff Smithberger, the Director of the Division of Solid Waste Collection and Recycling. Thanks to all of the volunteers who made this exciting trip possible. Note that all of the trucks are loaded with trash and making a typical run to Lorton. Note too that this award is the trash pick up equivalent of the Nobel Prize. |
