| Stinging insects are pretty, but not appreciated very much when you are clearing 300+ tires out of the woods on a hot July day. A group of hard-working folks from the Fairfax County Park Authority braved stinging insects and heat during the week of June 27th (2005) to clean out the last remaining tire dump in the Little Rocky Run watershed. Special thanks to Ed Richardson, Armando Crespin, Paul Faaborg, Richard Gregory, Will Jones, Garry Murray, Reggie Payne, Russell Payne, and Charles Trammel. | Anonymous Here's to a very special person who donates time and money to FLRR, but chooses to remain anonymous. "It" has done some amazing things but we can't tell you what. Photo: spring time blooms on a dogwood tree, also known as cornus florida. Dogwoods grow in profusion in the Little Rocky Run watershed. |

| Colin Riley There aren’t many people who will devote weekend after weekend to cleaning up a stream, much less one that is a vital part of Fairfax County’s water supply and possibly the most famous creek in America – Bull Run. Colin Riley is such a person and deserves accolades from the entire Fairfax County community. Part of the area in question runs into the downstream terminus of Little Rocky Run, which is how FLRR got involved. The amount of trash taken out of this section of Bull Run is simply staggering and still on-going. Click here to go to a frequently updated summary of Colin’s hard work. Volunteers are always needed. |
