The Great Flood of June 25 - 27, 2006
For three days an unnamed tropical storm dropped about 13" of rain in the Little Rocky Run Watershed.  The flooding is said to be the worst since Hurricane Agnes in 1972.  The flood has been rated as a 300-year flood.  However, the flooding in the Little Rocky Run watershed may have been the worst in its entire history.  This is probably the case because all of the new housing and roads have created a mass of impervious surfaces that have never been there before.

The volume of water at various points along Little Rocky Run was impressive.  The Compton Road bridge was submerged and debris in the floodwater smashed a fence on the downstream side of the bridge.  See below.
Another effect of the flooding occurred in a stormwater pond near Compton Heights Circle.  The stand pipe got clogged and the water poured over the dam, gouging out a 6' deep hole at the base of the dam.  This was reported to DPW on 6/30/2006.
