| Evan Heflin, with the help of fellow Scouts in Troop 577, completed his Eagle Scout project on 6/10/2006. Evan managed the placing of two Adopt-A-Stream signs beside the bridge over Braddock Road, the planting of 15 trees, and a difficult clean up in the area between Braddock and New Braddock Roads. It was difficult because the area cleaned is jungle-like at this time of year.
Items retrieved included 16 large bags of trash, a 3’ X 4’ Dominion Bank sign, a couple of bicycle rims, two 8’ 4X4 posts, and an automobile tire. There are two items of interest here. The 16 bags put the all-time tally of trash bags removed from the Little Rocky Run watershed over 1,000. It is also probable that the tire removed was the last one between Braddock Road and Bull Run Creek. Over 1,000 tires have been removed from the LRR watershed as well. Special thanks are due to the Navy Federal Credit Union for providing funding for the trees. The trees were provided at a steep discount by Earth Sangha. |
