Friends of Little Rocky Run
Centreville Day 2003, Page 1
When the Friends of Little Rocky Run contingent mustered in the parking lot at Centreville High School, the original plan was to have our banner in the lead.  Bearers of the banner from left are Alberto Francese, Trevor Whalley, Ian Whalley, and Ollie Massa.  This was a heavy responsibility, and only occasionally forgotten in the rush to pick up parade candy.

However, Alex, the environmentally conscious marching dog, soon took command and led the contingent for its entire march.  He was followed by stream monitors, placard bearers, and unknown children who joined the ranks from time to time.  (Linda Blake and family made the beautiful signs some are carrying).

A huge crowd of spectators, numbering somewhere between 500 and 500,000 mobbed the sidewalks of Union Mill Road and Old Braddock Road, craning for a view of the parade marchers, and grasping for the largesse of candy many of the marching contingests threw their way.  This unidentified mother and child pictured below were among the massive throng of on-lookers.
