August 18, 2007 – Andrew Worley's Eagle Scout Project - Cleaning Willow Ponds Park
Andrew Worley organized a clean-up of Willow Ponds Park, a Fairfax County park located at the intersection of Stringfellow Road and U. S. 29 in the Little Rocky Run watershed.  This was a daunting task because the park contained numerous ancient piles of illegally dumped trash and several hundred feet of wire fencing, some of it barbed.

In addition to 42 bags of trash, Andrew and volunteers from Boy Scout Troop 577 also hauled away seven metal chairs, two heavy electric pumps, one bike, fourteen tires, one 10’ metal sign post, one lawn mower, one metal child’s wagon, one large Weber grill, two small tables, two hundred+ linear feet of 4’ tall wire fencing, one metal wheelbarrow, one 4” diameter heavy duty 12’ PVC pipe, seventy-five feet of 1” diameter PVC pipe, one 20’ hose, one mass of rolled up fencing, one complete garage door opener, and one large sofa bed.

Volunteers were: Andrew, Clay, Brooke, Sarah, and Brian Worley, J. B. Bierwirth, Scott Bierwirth, Steven Crane, Charlie Helme, Michael Helme, Christopher Helme, and Ned Foster.  Andrew is the handsome one in the back with his arms folded across his chest

The local community owes a special thank-you to Andrew and, as always, Boy Scout Troop 577.
